Artist Michael Gadlin's, The 12 Apostles and Chalcedony series.
This series depicts and challenges figures which are represented in the Holy Scriptures. Biblical themes have been part of representing the skill of artists throughout art history, like the great Italian Renaissance. These paintings examine and explore biblical themes and specifically the Acts Of The Apostles.
The palette in this series is inspired by "Chalcedony", which simply means; a translucent variety of quartz, often milky or grayish. No true color was used in this series... just black and white paint, charcoal and ink.
